biography

I was born in 1948 and grew up and went to school in Schwyz. After successfully completing my studies in education, I mastered my professional life as a primary and secondary school teacher and in school supervision as a school inspector. At the University of Bern I trained further in scientific quality evaluation. In the last 10 years, I ended my professional life with a completely new challenge as head of the school quality/evaluation department in the education directorate of the canton of Schwyz. I have been retired since 2013.

I inherited my passion for photography from my father. The photo virus is rampant in the Immoos family from the Degenbalm in Morschach, my hometown, noticeably often, as some close relatives take photos (Franz Immoos, Amsterdam / Ernst Immoos, photojournalist) even as a professionalphotographers.

While I used to take analogue photographs, this hobby had to take a back seat for a long time due to my large family, professional, sporting and political commitments. Since retiring, I've found more time for this again. The camerarat became my constant companion. The joy of interesting, beautiful and moving photos now led to this Immoos Photography website and theImmoos Facebook photo page with photo group "Panorama for photo lovers"So that others can also share in this joy.

I prefer to photograph landscapes, cities, buildings, animals, night and twilight motifs, stars, the moon and the Milky Way, but actually anything beautiful that comes before my lens, well planned and sometimes unplanned.

As an educator, a specialist in teaching, training and further education, quality assurance and evaluation, I enjoy working on my ownPhoto blog to reflect, evaluate and improve our experiences and knowledge in photography ourselves and to pass them on to others - methodically easy to understand.  In this way, I can ensure that the connection to my former professional life does not disappear too quickly in the vast space of the free pensioner life.

Philosophy and commitment

The FoI understand tography as a form of artistic, digital light painting. It enables me to capture the motifs recognized by my eyes through the skilful use of light, the appropriate image section, the chosen perspective, the viewing angle and the diverse technical design options of the camera, the Objektivs, the filter and the RAW development in an impressive and artistic wayen. My focus is on making my recordings according to my high quality standards design, develop and present.

My main occupation is landscape photography, which I deliberately define broadly. In this genre I not only include natural, untouched landscapes, but also connect with them Farms, hamlets, villages, towns and their buildings. This broad perspective allows me to capture the diversity of the environment in all its facets in a natural but interesting and special way.

In addition, I dedicate myself intensively to animal photography in all three categories: wildlife, controlled conditions and captive animals. This approach allows me to document the beauty and uniqueness of wildlife in a variety of ways.

In both photographic areas I approach work with great respect for the environment with flora and fauna. Protecting our environment is very important to me. That's why I adhere to all landscape and animal protection guidelines. For many years I was able to share this passion with mineBirgit who unfortunately passed away in June 2020.

Now I (Nikon) am often with one or more of my threePhotooffriends Gilbert Schacher (Canon, computer scientist), Martin Doebeli (Nikon NPS, professional photographer) and Urs Neher (Canon, field ornithologist), out and about pursuing our passion for photography at almost all possible and impossible times of the day and night. All three are first-class photographers. Together we learn a lot from each other and with each other and stay up to date with the latest digital photography by always looking for and taking on new challenges.

I don't offer any photography courses myself, but I recommend some to my colleagueswell-known  top professional photographers. I recommend you for model, portrait, fashion and commercial photographyNiKon NPS Martin Doebeli.

In myBlog and through the compactFcar school “Digiknips” (from one of my German, virtual photo colleagues) I would like to share my experiences with instructions, photo techniques, tips and tricks for good photography. These are simply formulated and designed so that they can be easily understood and implemented. Feel free to take a look, you'll definitely enjoy it!

Mein Fotojahr

My year of photography in nature

Often when it dthe weather and my Health or now my older age permits, I am on the move in our nearer and farther home, often also in my beloved oneValais - my second home, but also in neighboring countriesSpain and Portugal, there in the Algarve to experience impressive Photo tours to do. In all seasons I look for great light, inspiring, special and exciting motifsn  places and photo spots.

In winter I explore the areas for pristine snowy landscapes, ice formations and capture the lights of illuminated villages and towns. In spring, nature awakens and you can take full advantage of photography. In addition to the picturesque lake landscapes, there are also thePlant-, andwildlife (especially the birds) as fascinating photo subjects. I love going photo stalking all year round for a variety of different things.animals to go.
At night it beckons againAstrophotography with the fantastic starry sky and the magnificent Milky Way until late summer. I also like to enjoy the wonderful time of the beautiful morning and evening hours and the hunt for thunderstorm fronts opens up further photo perspectives. In autumn I am on the hunt for the wonderful colors of the forest and deciduous trees, accompanied by impressive clouds and mysterious creeping mists.

ThisExperiences in nature and taking photos with my photo friends, always fill me with great satisfaction and joy. The hardships are always quickly forgotten. But this is the only way I am able to often take extraordinary, special, moving and atmospheric photos.
I can assure you that my photos are not "snapped", there is a lot of work and passion behind each one.

A full program always awaits me, because there is always something to photograph - so I always tackle it anew and grow from it!

Equipment / Photowork / Working methods / Using photos

I've been shooting with Nikon for 55 years; now with the new mirrorlessZ system, with the latest full frame cameraZ8 and the smaller sister NikonZ6_2, especially when shooting at night, as well as with the lightweight Nikon APS-C cameraZ50. About the three cameras now in use, I have a balanced range of lenses from the most important, high-quality and fast fixed and zoom focal lengths in the wide-angle, normal, telephoto and macro rangeNikkorwith Z bayonet. I currently use the three top lenses from Nikkor, theZ 14-24/2.8 p, the Z 24-70/2.8 p and thatZ 70-200/2.8 S, all full format (FX), commonly known as "Holy Trinity"(Holy Trinity). I also use the small, light Z 24-70/4.0 p (FX) as well as a small Z 16-50/3.5-6.3 APS-C (DX), mostly with the Z50 when weight plays a big role. In star and night photography I use itNikkor FTZ adapter connected, preferably the fixed focal length (F-mount)Sigma 14/1.8 DG. In wildlife photography we use the fixed focal length NikkorTele Z 400/4.5 S,sometimes also what was already mentioned above Z 70-200/2.8 p, often with both Nikkor teleconverters Z TC1.4 orZTC2.0for use. This means I can achieve a maximum focal length without a crop factor 800mm and with crop like 1200mm.

Several tripods, tripod heads and gimbals from Gitzo, Cullmann, Rollei and Sevenoak complement the photography equipment. The equipment is packed in photo backpacks from various providers such as Gitzo, Lowepro, Gura Gear, in different sizes depending on the photo tour, and sometimes strapped onto a trolley. In addition, depending on the light and subject situation, I have plug-in (150mm Series Haida Nano Pro) and screw, ND, GND and circular polarizing filters, mostly fromHaida but also used by other providers.

D
The various Nikon professional SLR camerass, I have now also retired a Z7_2 and almost all Nikkor lenses with F-mount.

I only take photosRAW format and help develop the photosPhotoshop Camera RAW, I sometimes also edit with LR (Adobe Lightroom) and in special areas of composing, time blending, stacking or for panoramas or exposure series also with PS (Adobe Photoshop) on MAC computers. I do the fine tuning with denoising, sharpening and optimization using the Topaz programs. I am able to export and deliver the correct types of image files depending on the use (web or print). With all of my equipment, I meet my high quality requirements and am able to guarantee photographic resolutions of up to 8256 × 5504 pixels (even higher if processed digitally).

In retirement, I now have the privilege of...Photo tours and photo projects to be able to do this both nearer and farther home, at home and abroad, with a lot of time, commitment and almost around the clock as well as with my entire passion for photography.  In my photography I put a lot of effort into planning, map study, information, research andRecognizing the spots and motifs. Most of the time, even in certain weather constellations, it means leaving very early or returning home late at night, sometimes with no result and several times until it works. Special outdoor clothing, camouflage suits, camouflage tents and footwear, the heavy photo equipment in the backpacks, flashlights and headlamps, as well as mountain ropes, are important companions.

In addition to the common techniques of day and night photography, I also master the techniques of HDR, focus stacking, timelapse photography and various types of time blending and composing, which often lead to extraordinary and unusual photos and compositions. I'm not at odds with Photoshop and the like and can use them optimally.

This is what I enjoy most myself, but in certain situations I can also do this for others. All images on this website are subject to copyright. I own the image rights. If you like photos and would like to purchase some (for any purpose), inquiries are always welcome, just get in touch viaContact with me. I'm very happy about it.
